Demographics To who, where and when your leaflets are delivered is hugely important to the success of your campaign and is often over looked leading to money been wasted on …
Read full story

Demographics

To who, where and when your leaflets are delivered is hugely important to the success of your campaign and is often over looked leading to money been wasted on poorly targeted marketing. It begins with profiling your current customers and identifying trends such as a location, age, gender and income.

Profiling you ideal customer is important to make sure your leaflets and all other marketing you undertake is designed and using a tone they will relate to. For example a high end Jewellery store and a pay day loan company will have two very different target markets and would get vastly different responses from advertising in the same area.

A good leaflet distribution company will have invested in software that can give you accurate demographic information about your target market and their location. Using this software, reputable leaflet distribution companies will be able to reduce the amount you spend by using this information to correctly identify where your customers are.

Leaflet Design

Businesses often make the mistake of thinking it is as simple as getting their message in front of customers and the orders will come rolling in. Would you buy from someone who had a messy hard to understand leaflet that made the business look unprofessional or incompetent? No? So why would your customers?

The design is your first opportunity to show potential customers just how good you are at what you do! Use colors that are consistent with your website and other customer facing space such as shop fronts and product packaging. This will help to build a professional image, increase brand awareness and quickly making you the local expert at what you do.

A quality leaflet design will cost no more than £100. Spending a £100 on a leaflet design will quickly pay for its self in the new customers it generates over a poorly designed leaflet. For future promotions and events you will easily be able to adapt the leaflet meaning that it has a long shelf life and brings new customers into your business.

Call to action

When a potential client picks up a leaflet they will decide within a few second whether to bin it or take action. Messages need to be clear, simple and compelling. Having limited time offers will encourage them to act quickly rather than putting it to one side to deal with later. Try to avoid using a percentage discount offer, as unfortunately people have grown to mistrust them, it would be better to offer a free upgrade or £10.00 off when spending £50.00 for example.

Repetition

You may have wondered why TV advertisers repeat the advert several times, well they understand that people are busy and distracted by day to day life and this is no different from a leaflet that is dropped on their door mat. We would recommend a regular campaign to fewer houses rather than a one off campaign to a large number of houses. This way you can really focus on your target customers and ensure over a period that you become the local expert in your industry.

How you have them delivered

Paying the extra to have your leaflets delivered on there own is more expensive but will mean that your leaflet has a higher chance of being read. However due to the cost it is not always the best route if you have a low profit margin product or your target market is wide spread.

A share plan delivery will be more cost effective and if planned and targeted properly will increase your return on investment. It is important that your leaflets are not delivered with more than 3 other leaflets and definitely not along side a competitors leaflet.

Measurement of success

It is vital to measure the success of your leaflet campaign and any other proactive marketing you undertake. This can be done by asking questions when you receive an enquiry or set up a dedicated telephone number or web link to track the responses.

It can be as simple as a voucher or spilt testing different offers. Just make sure your team is briefed on what promotions are available so when the enquiries do come in they are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

When using multiple marketing methods it is really important to understand what is working and what isn’t. This will allow you to spend more time and effort pushing the channels which will increase the level of new customers coming through your door.

As a business we are constantly looking to improve the reliability of the service we offer to our customers. At the heart of every decision we make is our mission statement “Sure2Door is committed to leading the industry by using the latest technology to empower an effective workforce”. With that firmly in mind this week we are very pleased to announce the launch of our web-based delivery management software.

We’ve spent the last 12 months working tirelessly with a local software development company to produce a system that would allow us to fully automate the process from order through to final report.

The software has been built in the latest PHP code and is fully web-based. This means that we can access important data and information immediately from a client’s office just as easily as we can from our head office in Milton Keynes. The system contains demographics of every street that we deliver to as well as the ability to plan future campaigns and manage a clients budget ensuring that their marketing spend on leaflet distribution is as effective as possible.

Over the coming months clients will see a huge increase in the regularity of reports and the ease that we can access data about previous jobs and help them plan future campaigns. Our investment will also guarantee clients have the best possible experience using Sure2Door.

Other great functionalities such as a full CRM and the ability to control workflow, payroll and manage KPI’s will ensure that our franchisees run their branch to its full capability increasing profit and customer retention.

As our business grows the software will help us to centrally manage national campaigns, enabling us to provide franchisees with regular work helping them grow and become super successful. If you’re thinking of buying a franchise in a leaflet distribution business then the level of investment we have made in this software and all aspects of our business make Sure2Door the only sensible choice.

We believe that this is the most advanced delivery management software in our industry available. If you would like a full demonstration of this please feel free to contact us on 01908 827 517

When you choose to market your business there are so many options out there in the new digital online world. For a while people were talking about the death of paper based marketing but in recent months we have seen GM pulling $40 million of online advertising and industry giants Royal Mail and TNT seeing an increase in the amount of unaddressed adverting mail they deliver. On a local level we as a business have also seen a big increase in the amount of leaflets we are delivering especially for the larger national organisations. If you do choose leaflet distribution to promote your business then make sure you get the best possible return.

In the past when a business wanted to use leaflet distribution, placing them within newspaper or magazines would be the cheapest and most reliable route to ensure delivery. The problem is when you have your leaflets delivered within a newspaper or magazine your marketing message is competing with up to 100 other businesses vying for the reader’s attention.

We have several different plans available to our customers none of which involve having leaflets placed inside a newspaper. Our standard share plan, which is the most cost-effective way of having your leaflet distribution carried out by Sure2Door has a firm guarantee that we will never deliver a customers leaflet with more than three other businesses. On top of that we also ensure that no ones leaflets on the round are of competing nature.

We recently ran a test with a new client who had traditionally had their leaflets delivered inside a local newspaper. We delivered 15,000 leaflets and the results were clear to see. Usually having 25,000 leaflets delivered inside a local paper they would receive 3 to 4 enquiries. They opted for standard share plan which was considerably more expensive per thousand than using the paper. Four weeks after the distribution had been completed we caught up with them and they informed us that from 15,000 leaflets delivered they had received 22 new enquiries.

The cost per thousand of having their leaflets delivered inside a newspaper was only £19 per thousand where as our standard rate per thousand is £35 per thousand leaflets distributed. The total cost to the customer was an extra £50 to have 10,000 less leaflets delivered by Sure2Door. What really counts is the cost per lead and this is where we know we are the cheapest. Cost per lead with the newspaper worked out at an average of a £118 per lead. The cost per lead with Sure2Door was only £24 per lead making our delivery option far more cost-effective.

To find out how Sure2Door can help you grow your business using fully GPS tracked leaflet distribution call us today on 01908 827517.

I love running my business, as every week is different and this week has proven to be no exception. Recently, we have been interviewed by a national franchise magazine and I wanted to take this opportunity to give you a preview.

Sure2Door was founded in 2010 by Robert Willford, an entrepreneur who saw a real gap in the market for a reliable distribution service of unaddressed marketing material. Having worked in several advertising businesses Robert was fed up with unreliable delivery companies who promised a fantastic service but never delivered. “I often found that magazines were sent to the wrong location or discarded in public bins,” he says, “I set up Sure2Door as an alternative to typical delivery companies and we are proud to offer quick, effective, guaranteed delivery.”

Sure2Door has quickly established itself as the market leader in the distribution of unaddressed marketing material in Milton Keynes. Over time customers began to request that Sure2Door deliver leaflets, magazines and samples to other locations. To meet this consumer demand, 2011 saw Sure2Door launch a second branch in Bedford, run as a pilot franchise, testing out new ideas and refining the processes away from the comfort of the head office.

However this isn’t only a leaflet distribution business, instead there are four revenue streams that help potential franchisees generate a great income for themselves. Sure2Door franchisees earn money from helping their clients with design, print and they have successfully introduced a voucher book which has a wide range of special offers of its client base, in addition to the core business of distributing clients leaflets and magazines.

After two years of success Sure2Door recruited their first full franchisee, Jeremy Russ. In 2012 Jeremy took on the task of setting up and running Sure2Door Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard in April and in just two months it is quickly becoming a successful branch of Sure2Door.

Jeremy is enthusiastic about the franchisee scheme; “The initial training was great with loads of information and processes to take in, but what really impressed me was the detail of the operation manuals – this meant that if I was unsure of anything I had been shown during training, I could refer to the manual or just pick the phone up and get the answer.”

As well his satisfaction with company training, Jeremy has also seen success within his own customer base; “Businesses are reacting very well to the service we are offering. I spend my day servicing new leads and recruiting more delivery staff. The most impressive thing about the franchise so far is that I haven’t been left on my own to generate work. In my first month I was awarded over £2000 +VAT in centralised work contracts to deliver leaflets for household names such as The Ambassador Theatre Group and Energie Gyms which has really helped to boost the start of my business.”

It seems that companies are crying out across the country for a leaflet distribution company who they can trust. Leaflet distribution is considered as one of the most cost-effective and result-driven forms of marketing and has become the main marketing method for many local, cost-conscious businesses. Sure2Door has been able to grow their client base by offering reliability and much of their success is down to Sure2Doors GPS-tracked leaflet delivery services and impressive results. “We can deliver our clients’ messages to 1,000 potential customers for as little as £35,” Robert explains.

“You will never be left on your own,” assures Robert, “Sure2Door will support you all the way with full training and hands-on support that includes setting up your business, marketing to your local area, taking orders and managing deliveries.”

Jeremy is excited about his future with the Sure2Door franchise; “I’m looking forward to working with Sure2Door and growing my business over the next 5 years and beyond!”

On a daily basis we receive phone calls and e-mails requesting quotes, for the most part customers understand our cost structure and appreciate our open and honest way of doing business. A little while back I was surprised when a potential customer informed me he had already had a quote to deliver his leaflets from another local leaflet distribution company that was only £11 per thousand.

My initial thought this customer is trying to get themselves a good deal. There’s nothing wrong with challenging price, after all we are all trying to run a business in very difficult times because not for a second did I believe a company would really be offering leaflet distribution at £11 per thousand.

When I informed him that our cost to distribute these leaflets would be £350 he was shocked and asked how can you charge that when one of your competitors rate is only £110 to do the same job. I tried to inform the potential client of all the benefits of using Sure2Door and that they probably would not be quoting for the same delivery plan. For instance we are the only company in the region that have a fully employed delivery teams rather than using sub contracted staff to carry out our leaflet distribution campaigns. Also the fact that all our delivery staff carry the latest GPS tracking technology so that we can be sure that every leaflet hits its target. We also guarantee that on our Share Plan rounds your leaflet will never be delivered with more than 3 other non competing items. Sadly the potential client didn’t perceive the extra value and assurances I had given him were worth the difference in cost and the customer decided to go with the £11 per thousand option.

About three weeks passed and one afternoon I return home and on my door mat I found an assortment of leaflets all placed inside a brochure. When I opened the brochure to my surprise I counted 14 separate leaflets! The local builder’s leaflet that I had spoken to 3 weeks earlier was placed right in the middle.

A week later I called the builder to ask how the recent campaign had gone. He replied terribly I’ve not had a single call and traffic to my website hasn’t shown any increased. He went on to explain how he didn’t believe that any of the leaflets had been delivered. I told him that I had received his leaflet and it looked great and it was very professionally designed, eye-catching and had a brilliant call to action. I went on to explain this is leaflet had been delivered 13 others and that there was no way enough prospective clients would ever see it for him to get a response.

When I informed him of this he was very upset and said he felt like he’d been ripped off. In actual fact the company who is dealing with never gave guarantee of how many leaflets it would be delivered with.

He also informed me that despite asking for it he had never received any form of report prior to delivery or upon completion of his leaflet distribution campaign.

The key lesson to learn here for anyone who is looking to run a leaflet distribution campaign of their own is to ensure that the following 3 points are agreed and confirmed prior to paying any money or signing any contract.

Timescale: all leaflet delivery campaigns should have a clear start date agreed and completion date.

Number of leaflets: If the leaflet delivery is to be a share plan (this means your leaflet will be delivered with others to reduce the cost) then it should be pre agreed the maximum number of leaflets distributed on any single round.

Reports: make sure that prior to the delivery commencing the areas you wish to have targeted are agreed. Then on completion you should be informed the delivery has been completed and provided the details of how they back check the delivery.

As a client it is really important that when you’re offered a very cheap price for leaflet distribution that you question it. All leaflet distribution companies have to do the same thing when it comes down to it. Distributing leaflets is not a product or a manufacturing process that can be outsourced and made in a foreign country at a reduced cost so if it is unbelievable cheap there will always be an underlying shortcut to allow delivery at a low cost.

All delivery companies should be paying their delivery staff the minimum wage which currently stands at £6.08. To deliver four leaflets to 1000 houses will take approximately 9 hours. So if a company is quoting £11 per thousand there is no way that they can deliver only four leaflets to 1000 houses. Either they need to deliver more leaflets to each home which is what happened in this instance or pay their staff below minimum wage.

Next time you’re offered cheap leaflet distribution please question the company and remember Sure2Door is committed to leading the leaflet distribution industry by using the latest technology and paying our delivery staff a fair wage.

After two years of success Sure2Door recruited their first full franchisee. Jeremy took on the task of setting up and running Sure2Door Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard in April 2012 and two months in its fast becoming a successful branch of Sure2Door. We asked Jeremy to describe how his franchise business is going.

“The initial training was great with loads of information and processes to take in but what really impressed me was the detail of the operation manuals and that if I was ever unsure of anything I had been shown during training afterwards I could refer to the manual or just pick the phone up and get the answer.

Businesses are also reacting very well to the service we are offering. I spend all my day servicing new leads and recruiting more delivery staff. Probably the most impressive thing about the franchise so far is that I’ve not been left on my own to generate work, in my first month I was awarded over £2000 + vat in centralise work contracts to deliver leaflets for house hold names such as The Ambassador Theatre Group and Energie Gyms which has really helped to boost the start of my business.

I’m looking forward to working with Sure2Door and growing my business over the next 5 years and beyond”
